The Metro Area in Marseille is launching its new 100% electric bike service!

Levélo hits full speed electrically in Marseille! As part of its plan to reinforce active mobility choices, the Metro Area is taking this service to a new level. As of 19 December 2022, 80 stations have been set up and a total of 200 will be available in 2023.

With an enhanced fleet, wider geographic coverage, and more, the 13,000 subscribers of the self-service bike program which has been in operation since 2007 will be able to experience a whole new way to pedal. “The all-new levélo formula boasts twice as many stations and bikes. We are accelerating even more and as part of the Metropolitan Bike Plan, I wanted to provide a regular alternative to individual passenger cars by allowing more residents the ability with this new formula to get around Marseille on bike, particularly in the neighborhoods with the most hills to supplement our public transport system,” declared Martine Vassal, President of the Aix-Marseille-Provence Metropolitan Area and Department of Bouches-du-Rhône Council.

Inurba Mobility (CityBike Global) has been awarded the contract by the Metropolitan Area to operate this service with support from Fifteen for the supply of electric bikes and stations.

Service subscriptions are free with no surcharges for those currently holding Intégral, Métropole or RTM XL passes (annual or permanent ones). The general public may subscribe to just the levélo bike service for €6/month. Those under the age of 26 pay just €3/month. Employers pay 50% of the cost for their workers. The first 30 minutes of use are free. All additional minutes cost €0.05.

By using a bike instead of a car for your travel, you save time all while doing physical activity and doing something good for the planet. This offer, which complements the levélo+ long-term rental service, aims to multiply the number of bikes on the streets by five in Marseille before the year 2024. More stations will continue to be set up in early 2023 in order to reach 200 stations by the spring.

Don’t think twice. Go to the website levelo.ampmetropole.fr or download the levélo app as of 19 December 2022 to register and find out all about this new service.
